Co-creating a brand narrative with key stakeholder groups

Northern Powergrid is the Distribution Network Operator for the North East of England. In 2018 we were commissioned to help Northern Powergrid refresh its brand narrative, in collaboration with consumers, employees and strategic partners.

Following a thorough onboarding process with the senior team, we hosted a series of workshops with small stakeholder groups; analysing their needs and expectations from their DNO.

Drawing on these stakeholder insights we began to redraft the narrative; later reconvening with the same stakeholder groups to test our findings. The refined narrative was then presented back to the executive team before being finalised.

The new narrative has been rolled out across all communications platforms, and incorporated into an animated brand film, and has been credited with helping to refocus the business on stakeholders' key priorities.
